The Arts Centre is located in the centre of Town on the original townsite area of Ferryland. The building was erected in the 1920's and served as the main General Store for the community. Situated on the harbour shoreline, the facility commands a panoramic view of the Ferryland Islands. The Colony of Avalon archaeological site, a few minutes walk from the Centre, is believed to be where Lord Baltimore started the original colony in 1621. If you are interested in a scenic walk, an old road leads out to the beautiful Ferryland Downs where the historic Lighthouse stands. A variety of cultural heritage events are presented in the Arts Centre throughout the year. They include: The New Year's Eve Ball, Traditional Dance Lessons, Local and Special Concerts, St. Paddy's Day Celebration, Dances and Art Exhibitions. This summer, planning is underway to start a Folk Night which will be presented weekly and will stage both local and non-local musicians. The Centre functions well for business meetings, conferences and exhibitions with a seating capacity of approximately 265 people. It offers the opportunity to conduct meetings in a peaceful atmosphere that enhances creativity and productivity. Staff outings are catered with food and entertainment depending on the client's needs. It is the objective of management and staff to address each party's request with the aim of achieving total client satisfaction.
